University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The students from the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) raised just over $2500 for their UCVM-CUPS fund. This fund is a student organized monetary fund aimed to directly support the annual UCVM-CUPS Pet Health Clinic. The University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) and the Calgary Urban Project Society (CUPS) partner to host free pet health clinics, where UCVM students provide basic veterinary care to marginalized Calgarians. Students, under faculty guidance, provide pet owners a wellness visit, preventative medicine, and basic veterinary care including vaccinations.

The UCVM-CUPS Fund was created by students to bridge the gap with patients who require care beyond what the basics of the clinic offers. Students and faculty have access to the UCVM-CUPS Fund during the clinics to provide additional medical care to special cases. This is an invaluable educational experiences for UCVM students, where they have a means to provide additional diagnostics and treatment workups otherwise not financially attainable.
